Canada Self-Employed Persons Program

The Canada Self-Employed Persons Program is a federal immigration program that allows people who have skills or experience that are in high demand in Canada to immigrate to Canada and be self-employed.

To be eligible for the Self-Employed Persons Program, you must:

 

1. Have skills or experience that are in high demand in Canada.

2. Have a viable business plan.

3. Be able to support yourself and your family financially while you are establishing your business in Canada.

4. Meet the minimum language requirements (CLB 5 in English or NCLC 5 in French).

5. Meet the minimum education requirements (high school diploma or equivalent).

6. Have a valid passport or travel document.

7. Meet the medical and security requirements.

 

If you are eligible for the Self-Employed Persons Program,

 

If your application is successful, you will be granted a temporary resident visa and will be able to come to Canada to start your business. Once you have been in Canada for two years and you have met the other requirements of the program, you can apply for permanent residence.
